Police warn motorists to respect speed limits
Dumfries and Galloway Standard

Officers will enforce new rules despite lack of resources
Police chiefs admitted they simply don’t have enough resources to enforce speed limits in new 20mph zones within communities.
However, they will take action if any streets become problem areas where drivers are found to be continually speeding up and breaking the rules.
Dumfries and Galloway Council has been rolling out 20mph speed limits in built-up areas across the region in the past couple of years, including Springholm recently.
When Chief Superintendent Steven Meikle attended the council's police, fire and rescue subcommittee earlier this month, he was quizzed on enforcement of traffic rules.
