Wheelchair user Chris has concert tickets cancelled due to lack of proof of disability

A DERBY man with cerebral palsy says he has been left feeling “let down” after his free carer's ticket to a gig was cancelled due to no proof of disability.
Chris Molesworth and his wife Angie were looking forward to spending a few days in Dublin in October to see heavy metal giants Disturbed complete one of the final legs of their 2025 European tour as part of Chris’ 60th birthday celebrations.
The Derbyshire rockers, who have seen Slipknot and Iron Maiden in recent years, to name a few, are well-seasoned when it comes to live shows.
In August last year, Ticketmaster issued Chris with an AAR number, which allowed him to get a free companion ticket for Angie, who is his sole carer. An AAR number is a unique identifier assigned to customers who have registered their accessible requirements for booking tickets or applying for accessible accommodations.
Chris has mobility issues that prevent him from being able to eat or drink by himself, so it is a necessity that Angie is beside him at live shows and out in public.
As a result, the pair bought a ticket, along with non-refundable Ryanair flights and a few nights in a hotel, which was followed by an unexpected email from Ticketmaster.
Chris said “I had received some emails from Ticketmaster requesting proof of disability but when I saw them, I didn't think it would be an issue because of the email I had in August with my AAR number.”
