DERBY County had an impressive transfer window as they improved their squad, with 13 players arriving and 13 leaving.

- By LEIGH CURTIS

The Rams spent around £13m, their biggest outlay on transfer fees since David Clowes completed his takeover in June 2022.

Patrick Agyemang’s £5.9m arrival from Charlotte FC was top of the list as the Rams revamped their attack and they also strengthened the centre of midfield by paying seven figures for Lewis Travis from Blackburn Rovers.

So what lies in store in the New Year and what do the Rams need to address next?

Here’s a look at three areas in the Rams squad that could be on the agenda in the next window:

Another midfield player

Derby had explored the option of signing another midfield player before the summer transfer deadline and were keen on bringing Harrison Armstrong back to Pride Park Stadium.

A midfielder capable of dictating play from the base of midfield was on the agenda and Armstrong would have definitely ticked that box.

Derby were left with a choice between signing a winger or a midfielder and, wisely, given the lack of options out wide, they decided on the former.

Ben Brereton Diaz came in and Armstrong went to Preston North End on a season-long loan deal but Derby may revisit this area of the pitch again in January.
