THE CASES OF SIX WOMEN RELATING TO SURGERY WILL NOT PROGRESS ANY FURTHER
Derby Telegraph

CRIMINAL investigations into six women allegedly harmed by a former Derby doctor have been dropped by the police, while work on the remaining 30 continues.
Derbyshire Constabulary has been carrying out a criminal investigation into former doctor Daniel Hay, aged 61, a former obstetrician and gynaecologist at Royal Derby Hospital, since September 2022.
Mr Hay has been interviewed under caution by the police on multiple occasions but has not been arrested or charged with an offence.
Police have now said that the cases of six women, out of the 36 being investigated by the police, all relating to surgery carried out by Mr Hay “in the 2010s” have been dropped.
The six cases had been reviewed by an expert medical professional and then passed on, alongside other evidence, to the Crown Prosecution Service for “early advice’
A police statement says: “Following receipt of that advice Derbyshire Constabulary has made the decision that no further action will be taken in relation to their cases due to the cases not meeting the evi-
dential threshold.
“The six women have been updated and [informed of] their ability to request a Victim’s Right to Review following this decision being made.
“The remaining 30 cases continue to be reviewed, and no decisions have been made in
relation to those cases. The investigation into these allegations is complex, involving large amounts of material and independent specialist medical professionals being consulted.
