OPERATOR ALSO INCREASES SERVICES TO LINCOLN AS PART OF IMPROVED TIMETABLE

DERBYSHIRE residents will be able to travel by train direct to the seaside from next month after a raft of significant timetable improvements were announced yesterday.

Transport UK and East Midlands Railway (EMR) announced changes to its regional timetable serving Derby and Derbyshire, including more frequent Sunday services to and from Matlock, two direct trains an hour to Lincoln, and a new extended route connecting Matlock with Cleethorpes.

The timetable, which will come into effect from Sunday, December 14, brings a range of improvements to services across the East Midlands - delivering economic benefits calculated at £2.4million a year.

Will Rogers, managing director of East Midlands Railway, said: “Since EMR began operating, under Transport UK in 2019, we've increased the number of train carriages serving our regional routes by 50 per cent.

Derbyshire, providing better connections for residents, businesses and tourists.
