Globe-trotting chef's heart in Derby after joining hotel team

A DERBY hotel and restaurant in the heart of the city has secured the services of an award-winning chef with experience in “prestigious” eateries across the world.

Buddhika Dayananda started cooking in the kitchen with his mum aged just five.

After graduating as a professional, the Sri Lankan chef went on to travel the world with his mouthwatering menus - a journey that has now brought him to Derby. The 46-year-old has joined the growing team at Derby's Cathedral Quarter Hotel in St Mary's Gate.

Buddhika said: “I am honoured to be here in Derby and serving all our guests at the Cathedral Quarter Hotel. I have worked in many countries and in some very prestigious hotels, but my heart is in Derby now.”
