Flagship status awarded to inclusive academy

MERCIA Academy in Swadlincote, has become one of around 100 schools nationally to be awarded the Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) with flagship status, recognising its commitment to promoting inclusive practice.

To achieve the award, schools undergo annual reviews where IQM inspectors assess the work they undertake towards mutually agreed targets. IQM visited Mercia at the end of March and the assessor was especially complimentary of the inclusive ethos and atmosphere within the school.
They highlighted the wide range of opportunities given to students from all backgrounds, including:
