Farm shop boss is ready to open doors at site of former chain store

A NEW farm shop and butcher's is preparing to open its doors in a town after the closure of a longstanding shop.

EC Manufacturing Group plans to open The Butchers this month on the site previously occupied by Wilko in Long Eaton.

Meat sourced from local farms will be available as well as pantry staples including fruits and vegetables. A bakery will offer sourdough bread, cakes and treats, with a cob shop offering takeaway breakfasts and lunches.

Exotic meats will also be on offer, including ostrich, kangaroo, wild boar and emu, starting from approximately £25 per kilogram.

“We had been looking to move to Long Eaton for a while, and when we heard that Paul Walker's was closing sooner than expected, we knew we had to accelerate our plans a little bit," said Emily Cardy, who will be running the shop.
