Family fun taking place for Easter

WITH the Easter holidays just around the corner, attractions are gearing up to host a variety of family-friendly events as parents to search for ways to keep the kids happy over the two weeks.

From farm fairs and breakfast with the Easter Bunny to Easter egg hunts and arts and crafts days, there's plenty to choose from ahead of Easter Sunday, which falls on Sunday, April 20.

A wide range of indoor and outdoor activities suitable for all ages are available at reasonable prices and we've compiled a list of events happening in the local over the next few weeks.

Mystery of the Golden Eggs, Heights of Abraham

This Easter, parents and children have the chance to take a cable car ride up to the historic 60-acre park that overlooks Matlock Bath.

In this park will be Lady Lettuce, the Matlock Bath geologist who needs a helping hand. She is investigating some unusual activity on Masson Hill, where a set of mysterious golden eggs have magically appeared. People are invited to find all the eggs and solve the mystery for the chance to win a treasured geologist's medal.

Regular sessions will take place throughout the Easter Holidays, with more details available on the Heights of Abraham website.

Easter Egg-stravaganza, Matlock Farm Park

Matlock Farm Park will host a range of events until Monday, April 21, including an Easter treasure trail, ferret and sheep racing and the chance to meet some lambs.

A spokesperson for the event says: “Come on down for some egg-citing, memory-making fun at Matlock Farm Park this Easter time. Meet the cade lambs, learn more about them and watch them being bottle-fed. See our little chicks and ducklings, too, for some very gentle petting.

“Join in with an Easter Treasure Trail for mini-prizes and have a free bet on our sheep and ferret races. Of course, there's all the usual animal and playtime fun of the farm park with wallaby encounters, small animal petting, meerkat talks, children's pony rides and more, plus the UK's largest jumping pillow and fantastic undercover and indoor multi-zone play facilities, too.”
