Council tax help could be on the cards for more city households

MORE households in Derby could be entitled to lower council tax bills - with a revised £16 million support package set for approval.

Currently, residents living in Council Tax Band A homes can apply for Derby City Council's Council Tax Support Scheme (CTS) - which offers significantly lower bills for those in financial difficulty.

This financial year has seen the current scheme support around 16,000 households.

But now big changes are planned by the Labour-led council to provide "additional support to low-income households at a time of continued financial pressure due to the cost of living".

One of the big CTS changes proposed is to increase the number of households eligible for support.
