A DERBYSHIRE community choir that started life as a small group of women singing for fun has grown into a 38-strong vocal force - and is now raising thousands of pounds for local causes.

- By TELEGRAPH REPORTER

The Wildflower Community Choir, which was founded in Breaston, raised more than £3,000 last year which it donated to the Friends of the Baby Unit at Royal Derby Hospital.

Now the choir, which is led by musical director Emma Morehouse, is hoping to raise money for Derby Women's Centre and is busy preparing for its biggest fundraising event - the Annual Musical Showcase.

The event, on November 22, will be compered by former Derby North MP Amanda Solloway and will be held in Trent College Chapel, Long Eaton.

Emma said: "Wildflower began as a space for women to come together, breathe out, and just sing for the joy of it.
