TWO CYCLISTS KILLED

IT WAS a sad week for the local cycling community after five incidents were reported that resulted in two deaths and injuries to a number of cyclists.

Over the weekend, two separate incidents were reported where two cyclists died and another two were injured.

Claremont police registered a case of culpable homicide after a 35-year-old cyclist tragically died while on his way to work when he swerved out to avoid colliding with a car door that was opened in front of him and was hit by a taxi on Friday morning around 9am in Claremont Main Road.

Stay Wider of the Rider, associated with the Pedal Power Association identified the cyclist only as Danilo. He worked as a bike technician at Olympic Cycles.
