Four shot dead in shooting spree on Flats

GUN violence continued to erupt in Mitchells Plain after four people were shot dead on Sunday night and another one killed on Monday morning.

Multiple gunshots were reported across Mitchells Plain on Sunday night including Eastridge, Woodlands and Lentegeur despite efforts by the South African Police Service (SAPS), community policing forums (CPF), residents and government to restore calm.

On Sunday at around 7.22pm, a woman was shot in the head in Pasteurhof, Woodlands and was declared dead at the scene.

Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said that Lentegeur police registered a murder case for investigation with the motive for the attack is believed to be gang-related.

Van Wyk reported: "On arrival [police] found the body of a female lying on her back at the mentioned address, with a gunshot wound to the head.

She was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel.
