Baby AB sold for R16.5m

DEWALD Brevis became the most expensive player in the history of the SA20 after being signed by Pretoria Capitals for a new record fee of R16.5 million at the Season 4 auction in Johannesburg yesterday.

The Proteas middle-order batter, 22, was the subject of a bidding war between the Capitals and Durban’s Super Giants.

Brevis, who previously played for defending champions MI Cape Town, beat the record set just a few moments earlier when Aiden Markram was bought by the Super Giants for R14m.
