DAVID PROBERT is hoping to make waves when he kicks off his new career in Hong Kong tomorrow.

The Welshman, nicknamed ‘Sonic’, is one of the quieter members of the jockey community but it was on the racecourse where he got noticed to secure a lucrative six-month contract.

The 36-year-old from Bargoed in South Wales's Rhymney Valley has ridden 1,687 winners but has found his opportunities limited in the highest-profile races in Britain.
