MARCUS SMITH is set to start his first-ever rugby match at full-back - for his country, in a World Cup.

The Harlequins star is expected to be handed the No.15 shirt against Chile on Saturday in a much-changed side captained from fly-half by Owen Farrell on his return from a four-game ban.

England's urgent search for an attacking spark has led them to try Smith (with Farrell, above) as a second playmaker in the hope he can reproduce his exciting cameos off the bench across 80 minutes.

Attack coach Richard Wigglesworth said: "We want to be tactically flexible, we are not happy with where we are attack-wise."
