That were formed in 1990 by Manchester-based mogul Nigel Martin-Smith, who wanted to create a British New Kids on the Block.He recruited singer-songwriter Gary Barlow who had been performing in clubs since the age of 15 - then held auditions for the rest.

Howard Donald had previously worked as a vehicle painter, while Mark Owen was a bank clerk and Jason Orange a dancer. Robbie Williams, 16, joined from school.

The band wasn’t always called Take That. They went through The Cutest Rush, Kick It and Take That and Party.
