City boss vents his fury in private Etihad inner sanctum... unlike stroppy Haaland!

- BY SIMON BAJKOWSKI

PEP'S BASEMENT BOYS

PEP GUARDIOLA said he prefers to keep his frustration “in the basement" after Erling Haaland blasted Manchester City for their performance against Monaco.

The No.9 repeated that he was “p***** off” in one interview and slammed the team for “not being good enough” in another as they conceded a late goal to draw 2-2 in their second Champions League game of the campaign.

Haaland had scored his 10th and 11th goals of the season to twice give City a lead but they could not hold on.

The big striker’s remarks stood out for their bluntness, but also because they contrasted starkly with what manager Guardiola and captain Bernardo Silva had said.

Those two were generally positive about the performance, with Silva suggesting that they felt on the pitch that a number of decisions had gone against them.
