Ahead of the World Cup qualifiers kicking off this weekend, the Wales defender is taken back to the day before one of his proudest moments when it all came crashing down.

The Nottingham Forest full-back's grandfather, Kelvin, to whom he says he owes his life as a professional footballer, passed away the day before he was due to play the USA in Qatar.

Upon his return, the 23-year-old decid- ed to commemorate his grandfather's memory by having a special keepsake made, which he keeps alongside his other awards from the game.

As Wales prepare to kick off their cam- paign against Kazakhstan tomorrow, the former Liverpool defender opened up about how he got through one of the toughest moments in his life.
