HOW HISTORY'S LOOKALIKES HAVE KEPT US ALL SECOND GUESSING..

- JAMES MOORE

IT'S not unusual to do a double take when the Orange Manbaby opens his mouth - but now US President Donald Trump has shared a bizarre claim that Joe Biden is a clone.

As we reported earlier this week, the Potty Potus reposted a dumb theory that his predecessor died in 2020 and that a Klookalike served in the White House in his place.

But it's not the only wacky story involving doppelgangers of the famous. Here JAMES MOORE looks at some of the hits and myths about them...

THE cover of the 1969 Beatles album Abbey Road is supposed to have clues that Paul McCartney was dead by the time it came out. For instance, he's the only one barefoot, is out of step with the other band members and the VW Beetle's numberplate reads “28 IF” apparently echoing how old he would have been (though he would actually have been 27).

These and other signs are cited by those who reckon that the singer had been killed in a 1966 car crash. The unfounded rumours began in US college campuses and radio stations.

McCartney himself parodied them with the title of his 1993 album Paul Is Live and says of the theory: “People may have taken too many drugs...”

Verdict: MYTH

IN 2011 a conspiracy theory emerged on a Brazilian fan site that Canadian pop singer Avril Lavigne had got fed up with fame and hired a body double called Melissa Vandella to take her place.
