Anger spills out over water firm leniency

OUTRAGED campaigners have blasted plans to allow water companies to dump even more sewage into our lakes and rivers.

Water regulator Ofwat is considering a "recovery regime" for struggling utility firms that will weaken targets for reducing sewage dumping and leaks.

Companies would also be spared from big fines for failures but will be required to put more cash into infrastructure improvements.
