JOE ROOT moved to the top of England's Test hundred charts with yet another sublime, masterful and historical yesterday.

And the Yorkshireman was more supersonic than metronomic as he powered his way ahead of Sir Alastair Cook with a glorious 34th Test century at Lord's.

It took him just 111 balls - his fastest yet to get to three figures and race into the record books again in a contest which has seen England dominate in every way possible.
