Arne: Topping Prem means you're No.1 in No.1 league

LIVERPOOL boss Arne Slot insists winning the Premier League is still the ultimate achievement.

- by SIMON MULLOCK

The Anfield chief accepts that pundits can have an opinion on whether the standard of the top-flight in England has fallen during a season which has seen his team turn the title race into a procession.

But the Dutchman is adamant that after a week which saw second-placed Arsenal knock European champions Real Madrid out of the Champions League and Aston Villa push Paris Saint-Germain to their limits, the Prem remains the best in the world.

Liverpool can take another step closer to being crowned champions when they travel to Leicester - and can even win it if Arsenal lose to Ipswich this afternoon - and Slot said: "The nice part of a pundit's job is that you can write about something in two ways - positive or negative.

"If everyone had the same opinion, it would be quite boring.

"But Arsenal don't have to win the Champions League just for us all to be sure that the Premier League is by far the best league and the most difficult league in the world.

"I don't think anyone can even debate that. Is it stronger than the season before or two or three seasons before? That's up to everyone to debate.
