A DAY OF CELEBRATIONS

Parades and parties across Britain to show our gratitude for war effort

THE UK will party like it’s 1945 when the nation salutes our veterans by marking the 80th anniversary of VE Day.

Four days of celebrations and remembrance begin tomorrow, Bank Holiday Monday. The Government wants people to "show our gratitude to the men, women and children who dedicated their lives to the war effort".

VE Day 80 will start with a military procession from Whitehall to Buckingham Palace, where the King and Queen are due on the balcony to watch the Red Arrows and military aircraft fly overhead.
