SCOTLAND boss Gregor Townsend has been handed a new deal that will keep him in charge until the next World Cup.

The head coach's contract had been set to run out after next year's Six Nations and he has been linked in recent days with a move to Newcastle Red Bulls.

But Murrayfield chiefs have moved to hold on to their man until at least 2027.

The news is set to be rubber-stamped at a press conference in Edinburgh today.

Toony is already the longest-serving Scotland head coach in the professional era, having taken over in 2017.
