Idah off the bench to force glory winner on crazy Euro night that had so many incredible twists

ADAM IDAH made a habit of producing momentous moments during his first spell at Celtic.

This was as seismic as anything he'd done before.

Idah didn't actually put the ball over the line in the dying moments. That was done by Young Boys' Loris Benito.

But the Irishman's thrust after magic from Reo Hatate to conjure the winner provided the key swish of the pen for Brendan Rodgers.

The manager had been hoping for the perfect ending to this chapter of the Hoops' Champions League story.

With this stunning twist in the tale, more pages can now be written. It was an incredible finale to an evening of thrilling plots and drama.

At one stage, the trauma was almost eye-watering. Kyogo Furuhashi had the ball in the net three times and none counted.

Arne Engels, without blemish in his penalty record at the club, chose the wrong night to miss his first spotkick in seven attempts.

All of that before half-time and a second period where Kasper Schmeichel made two huge saves as the Hoops looked unable to write off their Swiss opponents.

Rodgers jumped for joy. He returned to Celtic to deliver progression in Europe and that's what he has done.

With 12 points from seven games, his team are into the play-offs.

Daizen Maeda was sent off near the finish for kicking out at Mohamed Ali Camara but the 10 men stood firm.
