Cops reveal suspect shooter confessed uni killing to family | Neighbours shock at arrest of 'God-fearing' and loved son.
CHARLIE Kirk's assassination suspect could face the death penalty if found guilty, after his anguished dad helped to turn him in.
Tyler Robinson, 22, was held a day after the Trump ally was shot in Utah.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox announced the arrest yesterday by declaring: "We got him." A shocked neighbour of Robinson told how his arrest over the killing has stunned the tight-knit community where he grew up in a God-fearing family.
Robinson is to be charged with aggravated murder, among other accusations, at state level, papers revealed. But federal prosecutors are looking to bring their own indictment, which they say will carry capital punishment.
Robinson was held at 11pm on Thursday, a day after MAGA firebrand Kirk, 31, was shot dead at a debate with Utah Valley University students in Orem.
Horrific footage of the killing quickly spread across social media.
Law enforcement sources revealed the suspect confessed to his dad Matt, who told his son to hand himself in.
When Robinson said that he would rather kill himself, his father called the clergy, who contacted US Marshals.
