Time for giving

HERE'S a wee rundown from a team who were Fishing for a Cure with a charity boat match on Loch Etive recently.

Warren “Mal” Malcolm, a former Scottish forces fly-fishing champ, organised the event to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

I know Mal through previous veteran fishing tournaments he’s been involved with but this one was extremely personal for him, spurred by his mum losing her fight to lung cancer at the end of September.

When I caught up with him in Glasgow recently, he was picking up some bait for the match on his way back from Northern Ireland.

He had been able to sort the match and competitors at a difficult time and said they were all looking forward to some good craic, a chance to get out on the water and raising some money.
