Chainsaw attacker rants at judge after 10-year sentence

A MAN who tried to murder an officer with a chainsaw in a scene a judge described as being like a "horror film" has been jailed for 10 years.

Liridon Kastrati launched a foulmouthed outburst immediately after being sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow, banging on the dock, shouting at the judge and calling him a "f***ing terrorist".

The 32-year-old, from Albania, was earlier convicted of the attempted murder of PC Gary Cowan following an incident in Paisley in May.

It took place after he had crashed his car into a police vehicle.

Chilling footage of the moment was shared by the Record when Kastrati was convicted in November.

He can be seen wielding the weapon and running towards the cop. The footage then cuts to a police van with a crowd of officers next to a garden wall as they attempt to restrain Kastrati.
