Muscat on brink of Gers job with McCann as No.2 after secret pact Aussie to finish Chinese season while deputy keeps his seat warm

RANGERS target Kevin Muscat could send Neil McCann into Ibrox to keep his managerial seat warm this weekend - as part of a secret agreement first thrashed out between the pair two years ago.

Record Sport can reveal Muscat planned to recruit his former Ibrox teammate as his right-hand man back in 2023, when the Aussie was first interviewed for the job but ultimately lost out to Philippe Clement.

Before pitching himself to the likes of Graeme Souness during that process, Muscat from the race to take over for a second time. However, McInnes who has his team flying high at the top of the table with 19 points from a possible 21 has reiterated his commitment to Hearts and insists they can be a success in the capital.
