Protests at Trump's state visit » PM hopes for US trade boost

- BY MIKEY SMITH, PATRICK HILL and JOSHUA WHORMS

THE LIAR AND THE IRE

DONALD Trump last night flew into a storm of furious protest as he landed in Britain for his second state visit.

The US President will be treated to pomp and pageantry, including a feast at Windsor Castle where he stays tonight as the King's guest.

But hosting such a divisive figure sparked fury. One protestor at the castle said: "We don't want him here. He's a dangerous man."

Keir Starmer hopes the two-day trip can boost US-UK trade deals.

The PM last night rolled out the red carpet for a figure who seems to thrive on whipping up tensions, lying and abusing opponents and journalists who dare to question him. And while the PM hopes the two-day state visit will help secure UK-US trade agreements, his arrival sparked anger among those who feel his brand of divisive politics should not be welcomed here.

The president touched down at 9.10pm, after gushing about his invite to stay at Windsor Castle tonight.
