ELLIOT WATT has hailed the tactical genius of Jens Berthel Askou and insists the Motherwell manager's insight often leaves his players gobsmacked.

The Fir Park boss has been lauded for implementing an attractive brand of football in his first six months in charge.

That progress was rubber-stamped with a signature win over Celtic on Tuesday night where the champions were second best across the board.

Askou outsmarted Wilfried Nancy by switching his setup to go three up front - but without a recognised striker.

The result was a front-foot masterclass where Celtic struggled to supply their midfield creators and Well pounced on the Hoops' defensive sloppiness.

Motherwell now sit just five points behind Celtic in fourth place and have lost only three of their 20 league outings.
