SCOTLAND has been recovering from snow and gale-force winds as Storm Dave spoiled Easter.

The extreme weather sparked road closures and rail disruptions at the weekend.

On Saturday, Caledonian MacBrayne ferry services on the west coast were disrupted by the weather, and some motorists faced disruption due to fallen trees blocking routes.

Gusts of up to 73mph were recorded at Buchan in Aberdeenshire.

Snow fell in Dalwhinnie and Inverness, forcing the temporary closure of the M9. A snow plough was pictured clearing the road for commuters.

ScotRail confirmed emergency speed restrictions across parts of its network, resulting in longer travel times.
