President takes aim at America's 'radical, corrupt establishment'
DONALD Trump was yesterday sworn in as the 47th President of the US and, as his tech giant fan boys looked on, used his inauguration address to take a swipe at Joe Biden and his administration.
"The decline is over," he bellowed to the 600 people gathered in the Rotunda in the heart of the Capitol building in Washington. "The golden age of America starts right now." He rattled off his plans for the next four years, promising to rename the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America, take control of the Panama Canal and plant the Stars and Stripes on Mars.
He also vowed to ditch the Green New Deal and "drill, baby, drill" for oil, secure the borders to stop an "invasion of illegal migrants and return "millions" to where they came from.
He said: "America will soon be greater, stronger and far more exceptional than ever before." Among those watching were tech bosses who had resisted Trump's presidency in 2017 but who had now performed a dramatic U-turn.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg, and Apple CEO Tim Cook were joined by Elon Musk, now known as the First Buddy for his influence over the President.
Now heading Trump's new Department of Government Efficiency, the Tesla billionaire had prime seating behind the President's children and in front of his Cabinet picks.
