Stab attack dad Sean was ready to propose

A YOUNG dad murdered in an unprovoked attack was planning to propose to his girlfriend when he was killed.

Sean McKay, 23, was walking home from work when he was stabbed to death in Dalry, Ayrshire, in October 2021.

Gavin McVey was found guilty of murder following a trial at the High Court in Paisley and was sentenced to a minimum of 21 years in prison.

Police Scotland said McVey stabbed his victim for “absolutely no reason other than his own wickedness”.

Sean's family have taken part in a new Channel 5 documentary on the case called Murdered At First Sight.

He had a son with his girlfriend Chloe McCormick and little Oscar was a year old at the time of his daddy's death.

Chloe, 25, said: “I just miss his laugh, hearing his voice. He made everyone laugh all the time.
