Late lost-ball drama takes shine off round but Paul is still right in hunt for title
LOCAL hero Paul Lawrie yesterday suffered calamity at the final hole in his bid to go one better than 12 months ago and land the Staysure PGA Senior Championship at Trump International.
The Aberdeen ace lost his ball with his second shot at 18 and took a six to close the first round on two-over-par.
But the former Open champion is still very much in contention just four shots adrift of leader Michael Jonzon of Sweden after his 74.
Although naturally disappointed with his finish, Lawrie said: “I actually think I played all right. It was a tough day and I scrambled well.
“My six at the last was a good one, really. When you see the scoring, you can see it wasn't easy out there.
