Loved ones want to know why dad died after agonising 15-hour wait for treatment

- BY RUTH SUTER

THE family of a tragic young dad have demanded answers over why he waited 15 hours for an ambulance and A&E care while suffering from internal bleeding.

Dylan Jones, 28, dialled 999 after experiencing “unbearable” pain in his side at work last month.

But we reported this week that the father of three spent more than half a day in agony before an MRI scan eventually revealed that his spleen had ruptured.

Medics then operated on him to control the bleeding and he was placed on a ventilator before undergoing several blood transfusions.

But by that time Dylan's family say his organs were severely compromised and he was critically ill. The fibre engineer died 10 days later on December 20.

His loved ones have now called for a fatal accident inquiry (FAI) to be held into the circumstances of his death as they pled for similar tragedies “never to happen again”.

Dylan's cousin Billielea Porter told the Record: “Dylan's death has crushed our family.

“His mum, Susan, is devastated and his three young kids have been left without their daddy.

“If Dylan's ambulance had arrived sooner and if he'd been seen quicker in A&E, he'd still be with us today.
