Scotland is absolutely epic, I can't wait to take my kids up there.. it's so special

Presenter Steve Backshall reveals how he wants his family to love our native species as much as he does

TV STAR Steve Backshall is planning a magical trip to Scotland with his kids so they learn from his love of our wildlife.

The Deadly presenter, 52, is married to Olympic rower Helen Glover, 39 and they have three children - Logan, seven and twins Kit and Willow, five.

After a summer of swimming with grey seals in the seas around the Isles of Scilly, Steve is desperate to give them the same adventure in Scotland.

He said: “I want to take them to Knoydart across the straits to Skye, Rum and Mull, Coll and Tiree.

“I spent two weeks there filming basking sharks, tuna and whales. It’s absolutely epic.

“And then I'd take them to the Cairngorms. It would be so, so special.”

While they haven't pushed themselves to the limits like their dad, who has cheated death and been to some of the world’s most remote areas as a TV presenter, he is making sure his youngsters love the outdoors like he does.

He said: “They aren't old enough to scuba dive yet but they all love free diving and snorkelling.

“They all snorkelled with grey seals this year off the coast of Cornwall. Having a boisterous grey seal nibbling on their toes has been the biggest experience of their summer.
