Scotland braced for 85mph gusts as windy weather warning upgraded

THE Met Office has issued an amber “danger to life’ weather warning as Storm Floris set to batter Scotland with up to 90mph winds today.

People have been urged to stay indoors as the storm crashes in, with the amber alert lasting from 10am to 10pm.

Heavy rain and winds will hit western coastal areas before moving east.

Gusts of 50-70mph are expected in many parts and may reach 90mph on exposed coasts, hills and bridges.
