PUB BOSSES' PLEA FOR LIFELINE

THE SNP government has been urged to do more than pass on extra cash available thanks to Rachel Reeves's financial support package.

The UK Chancellor yesterday confirmed rates relief worth £100million a year until 2029 for bars across England and Wales.

That will result in extra funding for the Scottish Government via the Barnett Formula.

Finance Secretary Shona Robison promised to pass on any extra money.

But the hospitality industry in Scotland warned that many pubs are already facing closure.

Paul Togneri, an adviser for the Scottish Beer and Pub Association, said: "The Scottish Government will receive additional funding as a result of this change.
