HUGH JACKMAN ON HIS RETURN AS MARVEL HERO

- HEATHER GREENAWAY

PACK FROM THE DEAD

HOLLYWOOD star Hugh Jackman admitted he was done with Wolverine... until he watched the Deadpool movie for the first time and decided the Marvel characters would make a wonderful duo.

The Aussie, who swore he was hanging up his claws after the Logan movie, said he was so blown away by Ryan Reynolds' portrayal of the foul-mouthed antihero, he couldn't resist bringing Wolverine back to life.

Hugh, 55, who had the time of his life shooting Deadpool & Wolverine, which hits cinemas today, said: "Before we shot Logan, I told everyone that it would definitely be my last outing as Wolverine.

"Then, about three days after that, I saw Deadpool - and about 15 minutes into the movie, I was like, 'Oops, maybe I should have watched this first'.

"For the next four or five years, I could see those two characters together. As I was watching the movie, all I kept thinking about was 48 Hrs, The Odd Couple, I could see how these two characters would work."

The Greatest Showman star, who first played hairy X-Men action hero Wolverine in 2000, added: "Then - I can tell you the exact date, August 14, 2022 - I was driving, and it came to me that I wanted to do it again, that I wanted to do it with Ryan playing Deadpool, and I wanted these two characters together."
