Team of heroes make Tartan Army dreams come true, North America next after a night of pure drama

- SALLY HIND

TWO stunning injury time strikes by Kieran Tierney and Kenny McLean sent Scotland into dreamland in a night of history at Hampden Park ending 28 years of heartbreak.

With the clock ticking down and Scotland desperately needing to win, the Tartan Army were praying for a miracle.

And it came in the 94th minute when Tierney lashed in a 25-yard strike to put us into our first World Cup finals since France 98.

Then, incredibly, Kenny McLean made certain with a lobbed goal from near the halfway line to send the whole country into raptures.

The country had held its breath as Steve Clarke's men pulled out all the stops in front of a crowd of 52,000, who roared them into the history books.

A world-class early overhead kick by Napoli and Scotland hero Scott McTominay sent fans wild.

But an equaliser by Danish star Rasmus Hojlund from the penalty spot put the game on a knife-edge.

A 78th minute tap-in by Hearts star Lawrence Shankland sent Scotland into ecstasy until an equaliser minutes later by Patrick Dorgu put the Danes back in the driving seat.

But as the clock ticked down on our dream of automatic World Cup qualification, scenes that will last long in the memory saw two wonder strikes and the final whistle was blown at 4-2, sending Scotland to the World Cup in North America.

An elated Tartan Army celebrated into the night as captain And y Robertson told fans it was "the best night of my life".

Fans travelled from all over Scotland to witness the 90 minutes of magic in Glasgow.

The win sparked wild celebrations up and down the country.
