Man cheats death as he lands on ledge after falling 130ft down munro

A CLIMBER cheated death after he plunged 130ft down a mountain.

The man was scaling the Cuillin range at Sgurr nan Eag on the Isle of Skye.

He plummeted around 40 metres on Wednesday morning before knocking himself unconscious and suffering a head injury.

Fortunately, he landed on a ledge or he would faced another huge drop down the munro.

Mountain rescuers say he escaped with "relatively minor injuries" considering the distance he fell.

Dramatic pictures captured the moment the man was hauled off the rocky range by helicopter before being flown to hospital.

In one snap, the man can be seen on a stretcher surrounded by crews on the sheer cliff face.

The dramatic image shows the hazardous surroundings, with rocks and boulders in the background.
