Appleby's sprinting star can be a Big winner for us in Goodwood feature

- GARRY OWEN

MOJO HAS OUR BACK

BIG MOJO (3.05) can turn on the charm in the King George Stakes on Day 4 of Glorious Goodwood.

Michael Appleby's star hit the headlines when cosily defeating Aesterius in the Molecome here.

Not as good over six at York, he atoned with a near-miss to his old rival in a Group 2 at Doncaster. The colt rounded off 2024 with a cracking fourth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint in 2025. Big things were expected in 2025 and he stayed six furlongs well when edging Diablo Rojo at Ascot.

Expectations were lowered after the bay flopped over that trip up in grade at Haydock and Ascot.

However, the sprinter hit back with a near-miss to No Half Measures in the July Cup at Newmarket.

The three-year-old will relish dropping to five furlongs at this track.

AGGAGIO (1.20) can last the pace for Team Moore in the gruelling Goodwood Handicap. The gelding ran with real credit over hurdles for his ultra-shrewd connections last winter.

He kept up the good work with a decent fourth to Mr Hampstead back on the Flat here. The seven-year-old took another step forward when third behind Manxman on his return.

He was rewarded for those efforts when hammering Spirit Mixer in a similar contest here.

The bay should be even better over this marathon trip so he can prevail despite a 4lb hike.
