McInnes playing down all title talk (at least in public)

DEREK McINNES has Hearts sitting proudly at the top of the Prem but has insisted “it is stupid” and far too early be labelling his side as possible title contenders.

- Scott Burns

The experienced boss is too long in the tooth to come out and shout from the rooftops. Too many managers have done that, only to land flat on their face.

We all get it. He is making sure his team keep their feet on the floor and do their talking on the pitch.

I would suggest that the public and private stances at Tynecastle will be very different.

Publicly, you will get the usual ‘one game at a time’ approach.

But McInnes’ has never lacked confidence in his own abilities or the teams he has built.

He will believe Hearts have a genuine chance.

Celtic are not at their strongest and Rangers are currently miles off it.

As it stands, the Jambos have a really good chance of at least finishing in the top two.
