McConnell desperate to feast on debut

LIAM McCONNELL can't wait to get tucked into the Americans after learning about his first Scotland callup over dinner.

The back-rower is in the running to make his international debut against the USA at Murrayfield on Saturday after starring for Edinburgh this season.

The 21-year-old admitted he had started to give up hope of head coach Gregor Townsend getting in touch when some teammates had already received a call.

But the good news finally came as he and his partner were out for a meal.
