Muir's glad to move on as UK Athletics chiefs punish Andy

LAURA MUIR has welcomed UK Athletics’ decision to hand her former coach Andy Young a three-year ban for serious misconduct.

Young, who oversaw Muir's ascent to Olympic and world championship medals, was found guilty of seven charges by a disciplinary panel including that he “ignored medical advice and used manipulative and coercive behaviour”.

An investigation also found the Glaswegian, 48, had threatened to take an athlete out of races if they didn't following his demands. After one row, he “drove at speed with an athlete in his car before abandoning them at the roadside, disregarding their safety and wellbeing’.
