IF Carlsberg did an unforgettable week in football, then Scott Bain has just experienced it.

The keeper was part of the squad that sealed Scotland's first World Cup place since 1998 thanks to a stunning 4-2 win over Denmark at a euphoric Hampden on Tuesday.

Bain’s feet had barely touched the ground when he was back hard at work preparing for a return to action with Falkirk at Tannadice.

And yet more joy followed as he celebrated his 34th birthday in style by keeping a clean sheet as the Bairns trounced the Tangerines.

Bain, who has revelled in Trebles with Celtic, insists nothing will ever come close to matching the emotions he felt as Steve Clarke's squad dumped the Danes in a game capped by Kenny McLean scoring from his own half.

The 34-year-old, who helped keep his side fifth on their return to the top flight, said: “I've been a part of some big games and big moments.

“I've played in cup finals at Hampden, I've been a part of teams who have won Trebles and I've played in teams who have won Trebles.

“But without a shadow of a doubt, that experience was the best I've had in football... from the national anthem to the goals, the game and Kenny's goal at the end.

“Just to have the whole of Hampden at the end, it was insane really to be a tiny, tiny part of it.
