Ex-government member hits out at 'incompetence' of document gaffes

A FORMER health secretary has claimed he would have sacked the entire board of NHS Fife after the Sandie Peggie and Dr Beth Upton trans row took a new twist.

Alex Neil was speaking after law chiefs were forced to issue two corrections to the 300-page ruling in which at least two “nonexistent” quotes were included.

Neil, who was health secretary from 2012-14, said: “You would expect them to double check the written judgement before it’s issued, and clearly that’s not happened.

“It shows a level of incompetence beyond belief.”

The judgement issued on Monday found Peggie, a nurse with 30 years experience, was harassed by her employers NHS Fife after she refused to share a female staff changing room with a trans colleague.
