It's going to take time to get this right
-
KIERAN TIERNEY reckons he'll relish his role within Wilfried Nancy's setup.
But the Celtic defender insists it is impossible for the new manager to instil every single fresh detail into the squad in the space of days.
Nancy has immediately set about implementing his own ideas and styles after stepping into the Hoops hotseat.
Naturally, it will take time for the Frenchman’ philosophies and changes to bed in while members of the squad will have to adjust to different demands.
In Tierney’s case, however, it will not be anything new when it comes to his position.
Nancy deployed a back three in his first game in Glasgow's east end, with the Scotland man on the left-hand side.
Given his experiences of playing there for club and country, it doesn't rank as a tough transition for Tierney who's been impressed by Nancy's style from the off.
He said: “I like it a lot because I like building up in the three and I've played centre-back before as well - the left centre-back role with Celtic, Arsenal and Scotland - so it's a position I'm used to.
“His ideas are good about creating overloads, finding the free man. In football, a lot of the things are similar.
“People get maybe too caught up on formations but a lot of things are similar.
“It’s finding the free man, turning attacking football.”
Tierney's assessments are likely to ease any concerns among a fan base who did not get the opening day show they had hoped.
Nancy's move straight out the blocks was bold.
